What is AdBlue?
AdBlue is a Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) designed for use in diesel vehicles equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems. This solution plays a critical role in reducing harmful nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, helping diesel engines comply with strict environmental standards, including Euro 4, Euro 5, and Euro 6 regulations (Euro 6 effective from September 2014).
How SCR Technology Works
SCR systems reduce harmful emissions by injecting AdBlue into the exhaust stream, where it reacts in the catalytic converter to convert NOx into harmless nitrogen (N₂) and water vapor. This after-treatment process does not affect engine performance and helps maintain excellent fuel economy.
