The Fork Mounted Jib is a robust and practical lifting attachment designed for applications where maximum lift capacity is required and overall height is not a limitation. It enables the safe and efficient handling of long, bulky, or awkward loads that are difficult to access using standard lifting methods. With the flexibility of up to four different lifting centres, the jib provides excellent versatility for a wide range of lifting tasks in industrial and warehouse environments.
Fitting the attachment is straightforward and secure. The forks are positioned to align with the fork pockets, allowing the truck to drive smoothly into place once the heel pins are removed. After insertion, the zinc-plated heel pins are refitted directly behind the heel of each fork and secured with safety lynch pins to ensure a safe and stable connection. The swivel hook and bow shackle can then be positioned at the required lifting point and tightened securely, making the attachment ready for use.
The Fork Mounted Jib is supplied complete with a single swivel hook and bow shackle and offers multiple hook positions ranging from 1000 mm to 1750 mm load centres. It is compatible with fork sections up to 150 x 50 mm at 435 mm centres and features zinc-plated heel pins for added safety and durability. Finished in bright orange paint, the attachment remains highly visible in busy working environments, enhancing on-site safety.
Regular maintenance and inspection are essential to ensure continued safe operation. Weekly checks should be carried out, focusing on weld points, fork pockets, heel pin attachments, and the general condition of the swivel hook, safety latch, and shackle. Any signs of wear, distortion, damage, or corrosion must be addressed immediately before further use. Surface rust, particularly in critical areas, should be treated routinely with suitable inhibitors, primers, and paint.
From a health and safety perspective, it is the responsibility of the department manager to ensure that all operators are fully trained and familiar with the attachment, its operation, and correct fitting procedures. Operators must always confirm that the truck and attachment are suitable for the intended load, that heel pins and shackle pins are correctly fitted and tightened, and that only vertical lifts are carried out. Shock loading and angular lifting must be avoided at all times, and the safe working load must never be exceeded at any lifting point. The Fork Mounted Jib is certified for six months from the date of manufacture, after which re-testing or inspection by a competent person is required in line with HSE guidance.
