We understand the importance of responsible waste management. That's why we offer a wide range of high-quality litter bins and recycling bins designed to make it easy for people to keep environments tidy and free from litter.

Whether you're a business looking to be more environmentally responsible or a public organisation aiming to recycle more efficiently, our waste management range helps you comply with waste collection and recycling legislation, such as the new Simpler Recycling scheme.

Why choose Kingfisher Direct for waste and recycling bins?

  1. Durability and Longevity

Our recycling bins are built to last. Crafted from high-quality materials, they are resistant to wear and tear, ensuring they stand the test of time. This durability not only saves you money in the long run but also reduces the need for frequent replacements, minimising waste.

  1. Space-efficient Solutions

For those with space constraints, our compact waste bins are an ideal solution. They fit seamlessly into tight corners or small rooms while still offering ample capacity for recyclables. Make recycling a priority, no matter how confined the setting.

  1. Easy and Engaging Recycling

Every recycling programme is different, which is why we offer a great range of bins with coloured lids in a variety of themes, shapes and sizes to make identifying waste streams easier.

Our commitment extends beyond functionality, with engaging and fun options like our animal-themed and novelty bins that enhance the recycling process and get children interested in recycling from an early age.

  1. Bulk Purchasing Options

We understand the financial considerations of adopting or scaling up recycling efforts. To help you make an impactful change without straining your budget, we offer bulk purchasing options on select product lines. Contact us or call us on 01777 858009 to discuss your requirements, and our team will help you find what you need, when you need it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you put garden waste in a black bin?

Generally, garden waste should not be placed in a black general waste bin. Black bins are typically reserved for non-recyclable general waste, such as food-contaminated packaging, polystyrene, and non-recyclable plastics.

Most local authorities provide dedicated collection systems or separate, colour-coded wheelie bins specifically for garden waste separation. Alternatively, garden waste can be composted at home or taken to a local household waste recycling centre to ensure it is processed responsibly into compost or soil conditioner.

What goes in a food waste bin?

Most food scraps and biodegradable food materials can be placed into a food waste bin, including cooked and uncooked food. Common items include fruit and vegetable peelings, leftover meals, plate scrapings, bread, rice, pasta, cereals, eggshells, tea bags, coffee grounds, and mouldy or expired food. Meat and fish, including bones, and dairy products like cheese and yoghurt, are also accepted in most food waste collection systems.

You should avoid placing non-food items into these bins, such as plastic packaging, glass bottles, metal cans, pet waste, or liquids like cooking oil, as these can contaminate the collection. Always check your local authority or waste provider's specific guidelines on what can go in a food waste bin to ensure compliance.

What goes in a general waste bin?

General waste bins are designed for non-recyclable items that cannot be processed through other separate waste streams. This typically includes items such as food-contaminated packaging, polystyrene, disposable cleaning materials, and non-recyclable plastics.

Unlike materials placed in recycling bins, general waste items are usually sent to landfills or energy recovery facilities. Ensuring these bins are used correctly helps reduce contamination in your recycling streams and supports more efficient waste management.
