Fully optimise your rainwater harvesting solutions with a tank filter from Kingfisher Direct.

As awareness around sustainability and the need for efficient water management grows, the use of rainwater harvesting systems has become more prevalent.

A crucial component of any effective rainwater harvesting system is a reliable water tank filter. These filtration systems are designed to ensure that the water collected from rooftops and other surfaces is clean, free of debris, and safe for its intended use, whether that's garden irrigation, toilet flushing, or non-potable household applications.

Investing in the right tank filter not only extends the life of your water tank and plumbing, but it also improves the quality of the stored water by removing leaves, moss, silt, insects, and other contaminants that can lead to sludge build-up and unpleasant odours.

Our rainwater filter range offers a variety of filtration solutions, including:

  • Rainwater Filter Collectors: These are integrated units typically fitted directly into the downpipe before the water enters the tank or water butt

They serve a dual function: diverting filtered rainwater into the storage tank and diverting excess or unfiltered overflow water away, often into the drain system. They are highly efficient, easy to install, and designed for minimal maintenance.

  • Rainwater Collectors with Taps: Combining collection and convenient access, these units are ideal for smaller-scale domestic systems or applications where the water needs to be accessed directly at the point of collection.

They feature an integrated filtration mesh to clean the water as it enters the collection barrel or tank, along with an external tap for easy dispensing.

  • Downpipe Filters: These are standalone filters installed directly in the downpipe to pre-filter water before it reaches the tank.

They are excellent for initial debris removal, protecting the entire system from blockage and reducing the load on any secondary in-tank filters. They are robust, suitable for various downpipe sizes, and are an essential first line of filtration in any rainwater harvesting system.

  • Basket Filters (or In-Tank Filters): Located inside the water tank, usually at the inlet, these filters provide a final stage of filtration for water entering the tank.

They typically feature a large surface area for collecting fine sediment and debris missed by primary filters. Their basket design makes them easy to remove, clean, and re-install, ensuring the longevity and cleanliness of the stored water. They are particularly effective when used in conjunction with a downpipe filter for a comprehensive two-stage cleaning and filtration process.

By choosing the right tank filter or combination of filters, you’ll ensure a high-performing rainwater harvesting system that guarantees clean, reusable water for any application.
