- Great storage solution for lithium batteries - often the cause of fires
- Three-point lockable door for security
- Smoke detector with warning alarm in case of a fire
- Additional door seal keeps cold smoke in the housing
- forklift access clearance (80-90cm) for positioning and removal in the event of an incident
Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries are responsible for around 48% of all waste fires occurring in the UK each year, costing the UK economy some £158 million annually. This Battery Storage Cabinet is ideal for storing small lithium batteries as used in devices such as power tools. It is a sturdy unit which is manufactured with heat-insulating, steel, and features a lockable door with three-point lock.
Additional door seals keep cold smoke in the housing and is equipped with smoke detector and warning alarm. There is also forklift access clearance (80-90 mm) for positioning and removal of cabinet in the event of an incident.
Battery Storage Capacity
Lithium battery cabinets are rated by total energy (Wh / kWh), not by the number of batteries.
This is because lithium batteries vary widely in size, chemistry, and energy content. Two cabinets holding the same number of batteries can represent very different fire risks.
The permissible energy capacity of this cabinet is 2674 Wh (2.67 kWh). This means the combined energy of all batteries stored inside the cabinet must not exceed this value, regardless of how many individual batteries are fitted.
As a guide only, users should add together the watt-hour (Wh) ratings shown on each battery label to ensure the total remains within the permissible limit. Battery watt-hour (Wh) ratings are typically printed on the battery label or manufacturer’s datasheet.
Please note: These cabinets are vastly different from single-walled steel cabinets as they are manufactured to the standard EN 1363-1.
All cabinets include warning labels and safety instructions.
